NEVER a dull moment...

This is so typical of something that would happen to me it's not even funny. So, last week I found an awesome deal on one of my favorite brand of shoes at Dillard's. I couldn't pass these up, so I decided to treat myself. Well, today was my first day wearing them. All day (even at the doctor's office) I have been noticing this "slurping sound" coming from my shoes. Every step....."slurp, slurp, slurp." I couldn't figure it out! WEIRD! Well, here is is almost 4:00 in the afternoon and I finally realized what it was. I never removed the tags from the bottom and they were sticking to the carpet, concrete, tile, you name it! Wow..... No wonder that one lady at the doctor's office was staring at me when I had my legs crossed....she probably felt bad for this pregnant woman. Just a typical day for me!

The tags....notice how they're somewhat peeling off....cue the slurping sound!
The view the woman in the dr's office must've seen.

Until next time.....

Doctor Update...35.4 Weeks!

Tyler and I just got back from the doctor and everything looks good! Tyler's heart was beating strong at 136 bpm. Dr. White said Tyler is hanging out on my right side....he has nothing on the left! I guess he just likes it on that side better...that explains the muscle pain :) The best news of the appointment is that I am 1.5 cm dilated! I know I can stay like this for weeks, but progress is progress baby! I don't want Tyler to come until he's good and ready, but Dr. White says he doesn't see any reason that Tyler won't be born near or around his due date....yay! We go back weekly from now on.

The nursery is almost done! I'll post updated pictures soon :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

...to Tyler's Daddy!

Today is Rolf's 26th birthday!!! He is spending it down at the ranch with all of his buddies...the perfect day! I've posted a few pictures below.

One of my favorite pictures of Rolf...isn't he cute?!
(I'm sure Tyler will have his picture made just like this one day.)

At the creek...nice catch!

Rolf's first Sheridan deer!

Just having fun...
Happy Birthday! We love you :)

34 Weeks & A Rib Update

Well, we've reached the 5 week countdown! Can you believe it?!

Here is the 34 week belly shot!

I was off yesterday so I set up an appointment with my chiropractic functional doctor to check out my rib pain. I guess I have to apologize to my little man because it turns out that he's not really playing jungle gym in my ribcage after all. Apparently my cartilage is irritated between my ab muscle and rib bone because the ab muscle is being pulled (ripped) away from the bone. Yes...it hurts. He said it's because I didn't gradually get a belly...it appeared very quickly. So, I have an updated "Ghetto Wrap" picture to share. In fact, it's not very ghettoish at all! It reminds me of the "slimmer" that Ms. Doubtfire wore. The skin colored part is my "slimmer" or tummy sleeve and the white wrap up top is a maternity belt. It feels sooooo much better when I'm able to keep that muscle and rib bone together rather than stretching. I also have a topical anti-inflammatory that I am using. Overall, it feels better as long as I keep my "Doubtfire Slimmer" on and use my cream. I am thankful that I was able to find some relief and thankful because I know I could have far worse issues than this. As long as Tyler is doing okay then I'm okay :)

Here is my Doubtfire Slimmer. (Thank goodness it's not September or I'd be burning up!)

Sunday Rolf helped me hang a few more things in the nursery. Here is a picture that a dear friend let us borrow for Tyler's room. This picture doesn't do it justice, but it's the neatest old farm picture and the more you look at it the more you see. Cheryl had this picture in her room when she was a little girl and we are so thankful she's letting us borrow it. I know Tyler will really enjoy it!

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. Rolf and I went down to the creek and had a nice time. The weather was terrible and we got caught in a major rainstorm on the boat, but we made the best of it. It was actually quite hilarious! Rolf called me his "little soaked Valentine." My jeans were so wet I had to roll them off.....we should have captured that on film but I'm kind of glad we didn't :)

Doctor Update

This morning Rolf and I went to the doctor and got to see Tyler for the first time since November! He sure does look more like a baby and not just a skeleton! He slept the entire time we were having the ultrasound. His little heart was beating at 125 bpm and he is estimated to weigh about 5lbs. 1 oz. right now. The best news is that he decided to turn and is now head down. I know he can still flip around, but hopefully he won't. I go back to the doctor in two weeks and then the weekly appointments start. Only 6 weeks to go....wow!

Here is the latest ultrasound picture. It's kind of hard to figure out what you're looking at so I put some labels on there that will hopefully help. He is looking right at you. (You can click on the picture to make it bigger.)

Shower: February 7th

This past Saturday our "Second Family" threw us a shower. It was sooooo much fun and we are very thankful to have all of these people in our lives. Tyler is one lucky little boy!

The hostesses and I. (Kellie, me, Peggy, Rachel and Cheryl)

Holly and Leigh

Mom and I

Dani, Mallery, Kandice, Kellie and Holly

Karen and Mary Kay

Kaylie, Cheryl, Rachel, Peggy, Mom

Joan, Beth, Barbara, Lorrie

Holly won the "Guess how many babies are in the jar" game. She guessed the EXACT amount!

After the baby game we made our own babies out of Play-Doh...it was fun!

The "dirty diaper" game.... We had to guess which type of candy bar was in the diaper. It was hard! Too bad the real diapers won't smell this good!

1. PayDay 2. Reese's 3. Snickers 4. Tootsie Roll

Just a few present pictures....

A "car binky" my mom made Tyler. So cute and he will love it!

Isn't this box adorable?

Shark hooded towel and a basket full of goodies! (Including the cutest A&M bib that says, "I spit up on t.u. Whoop!)

Shopping cart cover that Lorrie made. A&M on the outside and camo on the inside...perfect!

Farm jumperoo!

Menaw got Tyler this onesie and it fits this group perfectly! It says, "Are these people REALLY my relatives?" There is never a dull moment when we're all together!

While the ladies were having their shower, the men were having a beer, bar-b-que and diaper shower at another house in the neighborhood. After our shower was over we went and "crashed" theirs...it was fun!

The men playing some "serious" poker....

Mommy and Daddy. (Where did that belly come from? It doesn't look like that in real life...LOL)

My "uncle Jim" and I. (he and my dad have been best friends their entire life.)

Old Man belly shot! SOOOOOOOO funny!

Spectators...

We brought the candy bar diapers over to the men's party and made them play the game too. It was hilarious.

Peggy telling the men what they have to do....

A few reaction shots after they saw the diapers....

The first brave ones....

My dad really go into it! He even put his reading glasses on so he could see the "poop" better....LOL.

Some of the young men giving it a try....

Rolf and all his diapers. This is only half the stack...we are soooo thankful. They will definitely come in handy!

Instead of diapers, my dad gave Rolf a gas mask....hahahahaha. Here he is trying it on....

The night ended with some dominoes and washers.

The "senior" table. They took all the dominoes out of the box (even though we told them to only use a certain amount) and then yelled over to the "young" table...."How do we play this again?" Typical......

Rolf teaching little Taylor how to play washers. So cute :)

What a great day! Thanks to everyone for their loving support and generosity. We can't wait for Tyler to get here and meet all of you!

Don't be jealous.....

....of my new fashion statement.

Apparently Tyler thinks my rib cage is his new jungle gym. (Either that or some of my muscles are being stretched/ripped apart....lol) Whatever it is, it is painful and ice is the only thing that helps. (at least I can get some relief.) I carry my ice pack everywhere these days but it's kind of hard to do anything around the house with one arm....and the "free" arm being your left arm. So, I had a grand idea that I would use my robe wrap to position my ice pack and boy does it work great! Rolf thinks I'm nuts but we sure did get a big laugh out of this last night. He said, "Uh...you're not going to wear that to the birthing class tonight are you?" The thought crossed my mind, but I sparred him the embarrassment. LOL

I know things could be a TON worse and I should be thankful, but dang it hurts! For now...the "Ghetto Wrap" shall be my best friend.

Shower pictures from this past Saturday coming later and new ultrasound pictures coming tomorrow!!!!

Shower: January 31st

This past Saturday my mother-in-law and sister-in-law hosted the CUTEST little cowboy shower! The details were amazing! Anja put her crafty skills to work and everything went together so well. Tyler, Rolf and I are extremely blessed to be surrounded by such loving and encouraging friends and family! Thank you to all who were able to make it.

Irene and Anja (hostesses)

Tyler had his very own cupcake!

Aren't these pacifier cupcakes the cutest thing you've ever seen? They are made out of two lifesaver candies and one jelly bean.

Sign in area complete with cowboy duckies!

Diaper cake.....PRECIOUS! I haven't taken it apart yet because it's just too cute!
Irene, Anja, me, Mom
My Aunt Diane came from San Antonio :)
Grandmas in waiting. (Oma and Grand-na-nee)
Part of my dad's side of the family. (The side that makes me not feel like a giant!)
Anja and I

The best Auntie Tyler could ask for :)
Long time friends (family) Sherry and Amy
The whole group! (minus Petra who had to leave early)

We played a ton of fun games at the shower too! The only one I have pictures of is the "Lasso the Belly" game. It was hilarious!

Petra took the "lasso" part seriously...LOL!

Just a few pictures from present opening (once again, I could bore you to death with all of the ones I have). We received SO many nice things. Thanks again everyone!

Happy Mommy opening presents

Harness Monkey....aka "kid leash." I think these are the cutest things! I remember when I was little all they had were the ones that went around your wrist. This one goes on their back like a backpack and looks like a monkey....so cute.

Farm animal wall hangings for Tyler's room! (I already know where they're going to hang!)
Baby boy scrapbook kit! Woohoo!
A gift for Mommy! My mom got me a nice pajama set, gown and robe for the hospital! She always has something up her sleeve :)

The funny part about my mom's gift......
Anja discovered during her shower "plotting" that there is a little wives tale that goes along with the 7th gift. Turns out that the person that gave the 7th gift is the person that's next in line to have a baby!!!! Ugh.......I'm not so sure about that one mom and dad! We definitely had a GOOD laugh though!
Anja pinning the "I'm Next" sign on my mom!

Close-up of the sign
What a wonderful shower! Thank you everyone!
Ohhhh......I almost forgot! Rolf and I had our first of four birthing classes last night. The first class was more of an introduction and "what happens during labor." The instructor is really good and we're looking forward to the other classes. We started a little bit of the lamaze "stuff" and of course we couldn't do that without cracking up! It's hard to look at each other breathing deeply and not laugh. Even the instructor said it was okay to laugh last night. We didn't see the "big birth video" yet, but I think we're both scarred from watching the clip of the placenta being delivered. It's like that clip came out of nowhere! Here we were watching a peaceful little video and then BAM! I'm sure that's just the beginning, but we're ready! (I think.....) More updates to come.
