First Hunting Trip (and other farm fun)!
Monday, October 29, 2012
This weekend we headed to the farm and the weather was gorgeous! It was our first "real" fall weekend and it was awesome.
We couldn't load the truck fast enough on Friday night. Tyler was SO excited to be headed to the farm to "help Poppy wit all dat work we have to do!" This is how Tyler looked before we loaded him up....SO cute and ready!
Saturday the plan was to let the men go hunting in the morning and Tyler would go to the stand with them Saturday evening. Well, little man had other ideas and woke up before the crack of dawn demanding to go. He even got himself dressed!
"I am not stayin' here wit da women. I goin' huntin' wit da men!"
Tyler and Poppy dropped Rolf off at the stand we we fully expected them to be back in 20 minutes, but to our surprise they were gone over 2 hours!! Poppy tells us that they saw many deer and Tyler "shot" an 8 point with his gun. (my dad said he stuck his gun out the window and pulled the trigger about 80 times...ha!) After Tyler was done shooting he said, "Poppy, get your gun and shoot dat deer!"
I love that story! Tyler was SO fired up when they got back!
Meanwhile, Mom and I were equal amounts of sleepy and pumped to have some quiet coffee time! ;)
After the big hunt, the men got to work moving hay bales. Tyler absolutely LOVED this "chore!"
The rest of the day we soaked up the beautiful weather and rode everything we own...ha!
All Tyler driving, no mom hands on the wheel!
He is getting really good at steering! He'll be driving "blue boy" on his own by the time he's five!
We also carved a pumpkin!
As much as Tyler likes getting dirty, he didn't want anything to do with cleaning this pumpkin out! He took one peek inside and said, "no, you do it." ha!
The kid in me has always loved a good pumpkin clean out!
Isn't this a neat picture with the moon and pumpkin! Happy Halloween!!
Rolf was in the stand while we were carving and we went to pick him up after we heard a shot. He got his first doe of the season. Tyler was pumped up!
This is the new deer stand that Tyler and Poppy hunted in Saturday morning. We had some chores to do yesterday so Tyler practiced climbing up and down. (and I practiced not freaking out. That thing is HIGH!)
Tyler also helped plant a tree. He was such a "big helper boy" this weekend!
We had a great weekend and are looking forward to Halloween on Wednesday!

Friday Phone Dump
Friday, October 26, 2012
It's Friday, yay!! Here are a few random pictures from my phone over the past couple of weeks and some funny Tyler sayings.
Tuesday was Dad's night out at school and this is something Tyler has been looking forward to for weeks! (so much so that he woke up between 3 and 5am for the 4 days leading up to that night asking if it was time...ahhh!) I think the guys had a great time! Here is a little information sheet about Rolf. Or should we call him "Ross?" hehe.
In case you can't read it some of my favorites are:
My Dad's name is "Ross"
My Dad is 3 years old!
My favorite thing to do with my dad is "play work with him on the ranger and broken tractor."
I love my dad because "I like him all the time."
All of the dads wore a tie that the kids made. Rolf still had his on when they got home that night...hilarious!
Notice the boots....he HAD to wear them that night. I love it!
Here is the scrapbook page that I we made for Tyler's school pet binder documenting Mason's visit to the farm.
Tyler is in LOVE with this dog guitar at Target. He has to go see it every time we are there.
This is what happens when you let your kid "play nicely by themselves" while you try to clean one tiny closet out. I've asked myself if it's really worth cleaning anything out these days because we always end up with twice the mess!
Loaded down and drivin'
Cowboy hanging out under the ghosts NaNee made us...they are so cute!
Redneck
Talking to "Bad Girl"
Pink phone in his back pocket...ha!
The picture below is exactly what I imagined when I think of having a BOY. How in the world do their socks get this dirty INSIDE their shoes?! These socks are getting the "Sunday soak" treatment.
The pictures below are an inside joke that is silly but too funny not to document. When I was in college (8 years ago) my Mom would send me paper towels, toilet paper, anything I "needed" with Rolf when he came to visit me on the weekends (before he went to A&M). Rolf has always thought this was the funniest thing ever and has teased me ever since. Every time I go to my mom's house he makes sure to remind me that we are getting low on toilet paper, cups, water, food, etc. and to grab some while I'm there. WhatEVER!
The other night I was packing my lunch at mom's (leftovers...hey, she offered!) and Rolf started dragging everything out of the pantry. I was laughing SO hard. My mom rounded the corner and her entire counter was filled with stuff and Rolf said, "Look at your daughter, she is trying to take all of this home!" Total inside joke but just looking at these pictures make me laugh so hard!
Whew, so funny!
The picture below is a preview of something I'm making Tyler for Christmas!! I'm so excited about his "boy dollhouse/BoyHouse/whatever we're gonna call it!" I've searched high and low for a "dollhouse" that wasn't girly because Tyler really enjoys playing "house" but the options just aren't there. So, I came up with this grand idea to make my own out of a bookshelf. The house will have a hunting cabin, car repair shop, barn, tractor shed, parking lot and camp ground!! I think T is going to LOVE it!
No hunting cabin is complete without a deer over the mantle, right?!
I'm going to document this process because Kirsten and I have had quite the experience gathering materials!
Now for a few Tyler funnies
- I took Tyler for his flu shot last week and he was such a big boy! No tears AND he wanted to stay there afterwards (weirdo!). He also asked the nurse, "when can I get my teef cleaned?!"
- The other morning we were trying to get out of the house on time and T needed a jacket (ok so maybe this was more than a few weeks ago bc it's been 90 for weeks...ha!). Anyways, Tyler kept telling me he wanted "nemo, nemo the nemo jacket." um...... I immediately thought he was talking about his blue jacket (bc at the time blue meant nemo to me even though I later realized nemo is NOT blue...lol.) Nope, that's not what he was talking about. FINALLY I figured out that nemo means camo. Oh my gosh...... I wonder why I'm going nuts!
- Amy texted me the other day and said that she saw Tyler coming in from the playground and he was snorting. She asked him if he was a pig and he said (very seriously), "nope, dat's how my daddy sleeps in bed." LOL! Busted!
- Last night I was talking to Ms. A while I rounded Tyler up at school and we looked over and saw him (facing the street) with his pants around his ankles, peeing in the front yard. Oh BOY! We laughed so hard. Please please please don't do that at church school son!
- According to Tyler I'm having a baby on Monday. Ha...ummmmm.
- "We don't have no floor so we have to wear our shoes inside" (while putting his shoes on in the living room) Yes, ugh.
- "I'm 3 years old to have a coffee cup!"
- While driving a truck loaded down with 2 men..... "do you know why dees men have go to dat house?" no why? "because they have a bad critter problem." (Call of the Wildman reference and if you haven't seen the show then you must watch...it's hilarious and Tyler's favorite! He calls it "Wild Gee")
Now for one funny about myself......
Nobody ever warns you how much you will lose your memory/go nuts after you have a kid!
Two nights ago I let Molly (my little wiener dog) outside to go potty (about 11) and the next morning Rolf was waking me up before he left and said, "why are the lights still on in the other room?" I thought for a minute and freaked out! (I'm sure Rolf was wondering why I was so worried about the lights being on all night) I was freaking out because I FORGOT TO LET MOLLY BACK INSIDE ALL NIGHT! Anyone that knows Molly knows that she is the biggest scaredy dog ever and hasn't spent more than 2 hours at a time outside, ever. Rolf ran to the back door and sure enough she was out there. She darted inside, ran around going crazy and then hid under the blanket for the rest of the day. Poor thing! I have no idea what happened the night before. Wow! The funniest part is when Rolf said, "your car is in the garage in case you forget, here's the phone if you need to call me, I can help you with everything except putting make-up on so you might want to call your Mom if you forget. Lastly, do not forget to drop Tyler off at school." Unbelievable! Needless to say we've gotten a lot of laughs out of this. My memory is gone foreverrrrrr!
I am SO SO SO SO SO happy to report that I'm feeling a TON better than I was just a couple months ago (and better than I've felt in almost 3 years). The mold is gone from the house and I'm healthy again!! It felt like it took forever to finally feel better (with the help of my amazing dr!) but I DO!! Ever since I've started to feel better I've been doing some weird (but normal for the old me) things everyDAY! I think Rolf is ready to send me away...hello endless hiccups (and laughter) and itchy ear lobes. Rolf forgot just how weird I really am....mwhahahaha. I asked him if he missed the old me and he said the jury is still out. WhatEVER! I'm so happy to be feeling better!
Fire Station Open House
Monday, October 22, 2012
This weekend we went to our fire station's open house and we all had a good time! The station did a really nice job.
We got there just in time to take a peek inside Life Flight and watch it take off. I've never been that close to a helicopter taking off before and the amount of force was insane! It blew over some road blocks and we could barely stand up straight. It was awesome! Tyler LOVED it!
Of course he found the 4-wheeler!
We all took a ride in the fire truck!
We ended the afternoon at the 4-wheeler store and Tyler found a razor just his size..........
He told me he could "probably be bigger enough for dat when he turns 5." Um...we'll see about that! ha!
