Big Buck Contest
Tuesday, January 30, 2018
Friday night we went to the Halletsville Big Buck Contest to watch Tyler and Rolf win their awards for the deer they shot this season.
Tyler won 8th place in the youth open division! He was so happy!
Mr. Richard is always so sweet with the kids. He tells the story of how Tyler shot his buck out of the camp house kitchen window. True story! I accidentally stopped recording but it picks back up in the next video.
We were all so proud to see Tyler up on stage but I think it's safe to say that my Dad was the proudest! Full circle moment for his little hunter!
Rolf won 2nd place in his division- south Texas high fence
Little missy on stage :)
The rest of the weekend we spent at the farm. It was rainy and cold but it was nice to literally do nothing except play and sit!
Hailey and I had some fun on the tractor and bike.
Part 2 where I get in trouble...hehe.
Sister loves Tyler's old strider bike! (she's also recently started telling us "I not Hailey, I sister!")
Sunday we had to leave fairly early and of course that's when the sun decided to come out! I snapped this picture of my Dad and Tyler since I forgot to get one Friday night at the contest. Big hunter men!

Vests
Friday, January 26, 2018
We received some adorable hand-me-down vests for Hailey and she is loving them! I think they're pretty adorable myself!
Furry vest!
Speaking of adorable, look at the shirt below!! (total brag moment but I'm so excited!) I'm back using my cricut and made this shirt for Hailey (and two of her little friends). I have a whole post coming about Kirsten and my new adventure! Stay tuned.
Winter Basketball 2018
Wednesday, January 24, 2018
Winter basketball started last week and Tyler is loving it! The boys had their first game last Friday!
We have the same group of boys and coaches this year but we joined a different league. I like this league better because the rules are more traditional to real basketball. We get to play at the junior highs in our district so that in and of itself makes the games more fun! Also, the refs have been fabulous with the kids. I feel like they don't just blow the whistle at the kids and move on, they actually take the time to tell them why.
With a better league obviously comes more commitment. Why is that?! What happened to just playing a sport instead of pretending we're going to be the next Michael Jordan?! We are committed to 3 "events" a week and the downside to this league is that most of the games and practices are in Cypress. We were originally told practices would be at our local junior high. I suppose it was a rookie mistake to assume that was true?! Anyways, we are working it out but 45 minute- 1 hour commutes to games and practices haven't been my favorite!
Having said all of that, I think it's safe to say that Tyler is LOVING basketball this year and that makes all of the effort worth it! I feel like the game has started to click more and he's really into it.
Go #30!
All of the boys on our team are from our school so that makes it really fun too!
Basketball was my favorite sport to play and seeing Tyler love it is awesome!
Meanwhile, Hailey is loving the bleachers! "I jump!"
I usually try to find a section of the bleachers with railing so I can sort of "trap" her in place. Heh.
Last Friday's game Hailey was insistent that she sit at the top of the bleachers. She doesn't know the boys in this picture but she took a good 10 minutes scooting closer and closer until she was literally sitting right next to one of the boys. We laughed so hard!!
Social butterfly
We have really great coaches! I appreciate their dedication to our team!
Last Monday night's game we had some special visitors- two teachers from our school! Ms. Sison is Tyler's teacher and he was over the moon that she came! I thought it was so nice that they took time out of their night to come see our kids.
More to come!
Tyler's Hunting Season
Tuesday, January 16, 2018
The boys didn't have much luck most of hunting season but that luck changed between Christmas and New Year's Day! Rolf and Tyler spent a few days at the deer lease after Christmas and Tyler shot a doe!
On the way home from the lease, Tyler talked my Dad into meeting them in San Antonio and driving down to the ranch in south Texas. I don't think he had to twist Pop's arm too hard! This boy was definitely living his best hunting life that week!
Cream soda in the deer stand.
Silly video about a 30 point buck with Pop!
King of the deer camp
On New Year's Day Tyler shot this cull buck at the ranch! The best part...it was out the kitchen window at the house. HAHA!! Old man hunting heaven.....
Meanwhile back at home, sister might be confused about what season we're in. Hehe. Foggy goggles for the win!
Little Moments
Friday, January 12, 2018
This post is basically just a mish-mash of pictures from the end of 2017. There are a lot of sweet little moments that I don't want to forget!
First up is Hailey and a Halloween peep. Sister loves Peeps!
Hangin' at NaNee and Pop's house reading the toy catalog.
Racing cars in the crib as you drift off to sleep. You know you have an older brother when...
Peppa and all the pacifiers having a party in the princess castle. So cute! I love finding these little gems!
Mid-October Mom and I spent a glorious day at Vintage Market Days in Hempstead. We had SO much fun!!
High heel game is still going strong at our house!
RAWWWR!
Just another Home Depot trip- hehe!
Admiring baby dolls at Wally World. :)
I'll admit that most Friday nights I just want to head straight home after picking the kids up, but sometimes I get a wild hair and stop at the school park to let the kids run.
The smiles and squeals as we pull into the parking lot is always worth it!
We ended the park visit with a cotton candy sky. Absolutely beautiful! We would have missed this little moment if we had gone straight home!
Being sweet on the couch watching a show together. Rare little moment. :-p
Boot shopping for brother and bribing Hailey with a sucker. She's also sporting some awesome purple socks with shoes that are too small. Pick your battles! That smile though!
This is a little moment that we won't forget anytime soon- the day Tyler got stung by an Asp. Nasty little creatures!
Heavy purple purse! Hailey likes to pack this purse so full that it requires her to drag it around instead of carry it.
The moment you realize you're still holding baby and all of "her" cups and Hailey has long moved on to a different imaginative play. Ha!
Real life...... but I got the Fall Decorations up. HAHAHA!!
"Baby need band-aid"
Watching a show with baby.
Silly play with Tyler before bath.
Obsessed with this Christmas card from our friends. Hailey is crushin' on little Barrett.
Lost tooth number ???
An attempt at a picture during the Christmas party at G/G's house.
Tyler and I missed the Liederkrantz Christmas party this year because he came down with strep throat. Hailey and Rolf had fun though!
Hailey was once again terrified of the big man in red.
Post Christmas grumpy toddler
Very mad toddler
Happy toddler in her "castle"
Even happier toddler when Daddy said "ok" to getting inside the castle!
While taking down Tyler's tree I found this deer ornament hanging by its neck. Death by ornament hanger. I have laughed and laughed at this picture!
Creek for the day!
Hailey loves to swing!
