Happy Friday!
A month or so ago we went to Grapeland for the weekend and had so much fun! Tyler met a new friend, Slayde, and these two had so much fun together. They were two peas in a pod! There's nothing cuter than two little farm boys tearin' up the land!
The battery died on the JD so these two decided to carry the tractor back to the farm instead of wait for help. Aggies.
Foundry Family Picnic. :-)
One Sunday night we rode our bikes to the park (across the bayou and down the trail!) and we ran into Mikayla and Brandon!
This is a picture of that same park after a very hard rain this past Sunday. Crazy!!
I don't have a green thumb no matter how hard I try but somehow I've managed to keep these day lilies alive. After my grandmother passed away my mom transplanted these beauties from gma's yard to mine and they bloom every May. I love this little reminder of my grandma. :-)
We received a very large shipment (toolbox) yesterday and Tyler was determined to get that thing to the back porch by himself.
The boy tried his gator, bike, lifting, etc. but nothing worked for him. He was funny trying though!
Tyler and I have been taking nightly bike rides around the neighborhood. We rigged up a basket so he could carry his "swig of juice."
Tyler is getting quite brave and standing to pedal. I'm sure before too long he'll be riding with no hands. Please no!
Two funnies from this past week:
- Sunday night there was a roach in the bathroom so I squished it and flushed it down the toilet. That lead to a whole conversation about where the roach would go. Where does that roach go? The poop factory? Does it mix with all dat poop? Why does it do dat? What happens at the poop factory? 10 minutes later I finally said, "I'm not really sure, I'm not well educated on poop factories." Mom, yes you are...you used to work there! HA!
- Tyler was grabbing himself the other night after dinner. "Tyler, do you need to use the restroom?" no. "then why are you grabbing yourself?!" because I LOVE IT! oh geez....not already!!

Memorial Day
Wednesday, May 28, 2014
We spent Memorial Day weekend at the creek. It was really nice weather but still too chilly for this Mom to get in the pool! Tyler and Rolf didn't care...they jumped right in!
Getting ready for a jet ski ride. This kid loves the jet ski and screams/barks like a dog the entire time!
Little stinker trying to get away from me while I took some pictures. Notice the tongue out. Such a five year old thing!
Taylor and Tyler (with the papaw eye)
I rounded out the weekend with a little firefighting in my kitchen. I had a candle burning on the windowsill and was in the other room when I heard a very loud crash. I thought something dropped in the laundry room. I don't know what made me get up and go see what happened but thank God I did.....the candle had exploded (!!) and the wax was on fire on the windowsill!!!! OMG! I still can't believe how high the flames were shooting and that nothing was damaged. I had about 10 seconds of panic before I grabbed the kitchen faucet and sprayed the entire area down. It freaked me out!! No more craft show candles for me.......
You can see the soot halfway up the window but I still cannot believe there wasn't any real damage after seeing the flames. Granite is also apparently really tough because that whole corner was on fire but you can't even tell! I cleaned up wax and glass for a good 45 minutes but it sure could have been worse! WHEW!
I know I scared Rolf half to death when I barged into the bathroom like a wild banshee explaining what happened. He heard the candle explode (with the shower running!) but thought I just dropped something. Tyler was asleep and never heard a thing. Crazy!
Pre-K Graduation!
Friday, May 23, 2014
What an exciting week it's been! Tyler graduated Pre-k on Wednesday and it was such a great little ceremony. I know the years are going to fly by and we'll be doing this again in high school but until then I'm going to soak this little boy up!
Tyler was actually excited for his graduation program (which is a huge improvement from our first program where he sat down on the stage and the Christmas program where he hissed like a raccoon!) so that made it even more fun!
Foundry gave all of the parents a little graduation frame....LOVE!
Tyler had a whole pew of people there to watch him! (L to R) Grommy, Mommy, Ms. Kirsten, Gigi, NaNee, Poppy, and Dada. We missed Oma and Opa but they're enjoying themselves in Germany!!
There's my boy waving to us...so happy!
Before the actual graduation ceremony, the preschool 3 and turning 3 kids performed with pre-k. It was SO SO cute. The music director really does a great job with the kids and I cried my way through the whole thing. ha! I just love the sweet sound of those little voices singing praise songs.
After a few songs the pre-k kids left to get "gowned up" while the rest of the kids stayed to entertain us. Little Miss. Daleigh was the only one I could watch because she was so entertaining! Bowing at the end of each song. ha!!!
After the littles left they played a slide show of baby and graduation pictures. I knew what picture I submitted but I still cried like a baby when I saw my little tractor man on the screen. I just love this picture!
Where does the time go?!
Here comes our big boy!
I wish this wasn't a blurry picture but I'll remember it as "the picture I took while trying to steady my camera and cry at the same time."
I used to not be a crier but becoming a mother really changed that...wowsers!
A few more songs from the graduates!
....and just like that our preschool years are over. Wow!
What a great morning!
Last but certainly not least, we grabbed a picture with our beloved "Ms. Debbie." She is such a special lady in all of our lives and we will really, really miss her next year. Tyler went into her office before school every morning to chit chat and take pictures "for David and Katie." Debbie is the director of the school and does such a wonderful job!
One chapter closes and another one opens. Here's to a fun summer and great start to kindergarten in the fall! Ahhh!
Last day at Foundry!
Wednesday, May 21, 2014
Today was Tyler's very last day of preschool. We've had 3 wonderful years at Foundry and will really miss it next year! Tyler is excited and ready for kindergarten though!! We had graduation this morning and Tyler did so good. He can be shy on stage but he actually sang and did the hand motions this time! I'll post graduation pictures tomorrow. ;)
Here are a few pictures I snapped of Tyler before his last day of pre-k!
Never a serious picture with mom but that's ok! Here is our signature "papaw eye."
Following tradition, here is a comparison of Tyler on this first and last day of school. He has grown SO much!
First day of pre-k- September 2013
Last day! (seriously, look how much higher his waist is above the bike seat..crazy!)
