Fowl Cay- Day 4
Monday, June 30, 2014
Day 4 at Fowl Cay started off with some of the guys going offshore fishing. They didn't end up catching much but still had a great time in the deep blue water.
The girls' original plan was to meet the Blue Moon villa girls at South Beach around lunchtime but we might have ventured a little too far on the "walking trail" and totally missed lunch. whoops!
We started where the star is (our villa) and hiked the green trail as well as the entire yellow trail (left and right) all the way back to the star. This was a very tough hike and my poor friends didn't come prepared......they were wearing flip flops! We laughed so hard on this hike and had some great views but I was banned from "picking the adventure" for the rest of the trip. ;-p We hiked for over two hours straight and covered nearly the entire 50 acre island. Oops!
We got to the highest point of the island and it was breathtaking!
Just on the other side of the island the water dropped to 5,000 feet and we saw freighters. I don't know why but this was so fascinating to me!
I still can't get over the water!
Once we got down to the beach the hike was great....for about 5 minutes until the sand turned to sharp rocks. Another oops!
Kerri thought she would "make her own path away from those sharp rocks" but it's didn't last long. She needed a machete. ;-p
Paige and I stayed close to the water (read: sharp rocks).
I see houses...we're almost back!
Did I mention it was a *little* hot out there?! ha!
After our hike the girls declared they weren't walking anywhere for the rest of the day and if I wanted to plan an adventure they were NOT coming!
...so, we DROVE around the island taking pictures.
The villas seen here are the only other houses on the island. I love how private this place is!
Beautiful South Beach
I did not suggest the next adventure but it sure was fun! (clearly we were trying to kill ourselves while the men were gone......why didn't we just SIT on the beach?! ha!) We kayaked around the entire island. It was SO, SO fun and we laughed until my stomach hurt! Blue Moon snapped some pictures of us as we paddled in front of their house.
The only part I didn't like was when we were almost back to South Beach and a shark the size of our kayak was swarming. I do not care that it was "just a nurse shark!" A nice shark is an oxymoron and I've never paddled so fast in my life. ha! The other girls were laughing too hard to help but I got us to shore at lightening speed. I'm not a chicken around water but I'd rather view sharks and stingrays from the shoreline and not 12 inches from my kayak!
Chad and Rolf were riding the "beach cruisers" when we got back to South Beach. Seriously so funny! The cruisers were a lot of fun to ride around the island!
We didn't have much time left before boat curfew so we jumped in real quick and headed for sand dollar sandbar. Blue Moon met us there and the guys fished while we all just hung out. It was really fun and relaxing. Rick found some sort of sea creature/enemy (?) that was wild looking!
We walked to dinner that night (another adventure?!) since our golf cart was having problems. The guys tried to fix it but it was a no-go.
Hill House had a fun washer/hook game that we all played before dinner most nights. Rolf was the master of this game.
Rick couldn't understand how Rolf kept getting a "hook in one" and was studying his "technique." ha!
Right down from the Hill House was a little wishing well.
I wanted to throw a $100 bill in this thing but settled for two quarters. We'll see if my wish comes true :-)
We ended the night at South Beach looking at the stars and just hanging out. It was another fun day at Fowl Cay!

Fowl Cay- Day 3
Thursday, June 26, 2014
Day 3 at Fowl Cay was Father's Day so we headed out early (island time, of course!) so the guys could do a little reef fishing. They ended up catching quite a few fish and it was fun seeing all of the different varieties that we don't see in Texas!
Across from where we were fishing was a huge mansion on its own island. We're told a lot of celebrities rent that island for $450k per week! Whoa!
This was probably my favorite fish the guys caught...such pretty colors!
After a couple hours we headed north and stopped at Compass Cay. This island has a little marina where you can swim with the sharks. I'll admit, I wasn't too excited about this idea but it ended up being way less intimidating than I had in my head. ;-p
Beautiful!
There were a few "small" boats parked at this marina.
JoJo's Circus is apparently a kid cartoon?
I don't have any pictures of Compass Cay's "pet sharks" but we do have video so I'll try and get those together at some point. It really was neat seeing the sharks so close.
After Compass Cay we drove further north and stopped on a random island for lunch. The views were absolutely breathtaking!
Paige and Rolf
We stayed on this island for quite awhile looking for shells and listening to music. It was so relaxing and fun!
We drove a few more islands over to the Land and Sea Park where we snorkeled and saw SO many beautiful fish and corral. The current was swift so Chad jumped in to test the waters before we all bailed off the boats.
Woohoo!
We saw a huge lobster...I think Rolf got it on the GoPro so I'll have to find that too. So neat!
After an hour or so we headed back south toward Fowl Cay to Iguana Island! The boat ride was another favorite of the day....it's just so beautiful there!
We pulled up to Iguana island and tons of them came out from behind the brush. It was wild!!
We brought some fruit to feed them and they were pretty aggressive! I may or may not have hit one with a small stick because he scared the crap outta me when he attacked his "friend." (Rolf captured this on the GoPro and it's hilarious)
The iguanas ate best from a stick. They were really neat to watch.
Paradise........
.....and just like that there was a huge stingray swarming the boat and I nearly walked on water.
It was getting close to curfew so we packed it up and started heading back to Fowl Cay. The men fished for a bit and caught some more neat fish.
Of course we stopped by to see the pigs on the way back too. Loved those swimming pigs!
Back on land and hangin' at the pool before dinner. SO fun and spoiled!
I can't get over this view.
Another fun day!!
