Thanksgiving Week Recap

Even though I wasn't off work for the entire week, I sure do love when Tyler doesn't have school!!  Shaking up the routine was just what we all needed.

Monday morning Tyler headed to the farm with my parents.  Mom sent me this picture to get my week started.  Beautiful sunrise!

Tyler was living it up in the country with NaNee and Pop!

Monday and Tuesday were normal days for Rolf and I but Tuesday night looked like this......
Hailey came home with a fever from Ms. Andrea's and because the holiday was coming, I took her to urgent care that night.  Rolf met us there and Hailey sure was happy to see Daddy!  Bless her heart.  We left with a virus diagnoses which can be so frustrating because there's nothing you can really do.  I was glad strep was negative though!

Thanksgiving break wasn't supposed to start for me until Thursday but I took Tuesday off to be with little miss.  She slept until almost 9 the next morning!

Not 100% better but fever free and feeling better!  (and looking too cute in those pink pants and boots!)

It was a blessing in disguise that Hailey wasn't feeling well because that gave us an extra day together and we got our grocery shopping done before that night!

3 purses-check
sucker- check
baby stroller- check!

Rolf had a meeting near the farm on Wednesday so he picked Tyler up on his way back to town.  That night we made turkey cookies!  (Semi-homemade is totally the way to go with kids because all they really care about is the decorating part.  I can't blame them!)

Fun project!

After cookies we ventured outside to get our Christmas stuff out of the garage attic.  The kids love this plastic Santa.

Hailey was hugging Santa non stop!

Apparently we all had a burst of energy because we came inside and got down all of the inside Christmas décor too.   (side note: someday I'll have a walk-in decorating closet instead of having to drag heavy tubs up and down those stupid attic stairs!)

After it was all down, the kids begged me to set up their trees.
Hailey's tree!

Hailey's ornaments!  HAHAHA (she will not keep them on the tree!)

Posing by Tyler's tree

Thanksgiving morning I decided it was high time I used some pancake molds that have been sitting in the drawer for far too long.  It was a total fail and I've never laughed so hard at my lack of cooking skills as I did that morning!  The kids and Rolf still ate them but oh my!

A little ipad time before the busy day gets started....

Hailey had been fever free since Tuesday night so we decided to go forward with our TG day plans.

Our day started with an EPIC meltdown from the 8 year old because he had to wear jeans and from the 2 year old because she had to change out of her jammies.  Ahhh!!  It was awful and ultimately boiled down to not having enough protein.  I swear food is such a factor with behavior.  Tyler hid behind the Aggie blanket until our first stop.

Our first stop was to see Gayle and Grommy.  The kids decorated some trees in each of their rooms and we had a nice visit.

An attempt at a group photo.

We made it home in time for lunch and a nap for Hailey.  Notice how she brought all of her ornaments from the couch to her bed?  This girl!

Rolf, Tyler and I worked on the outside Christmas decorations while Hailey napped and when she woke up it was time for our next stop.  I wanted some pictures of the kids before we left but that wasn't an easy task.  At least Tyler smiled nicely for me!  (...and put all these pumpkins in the wagon which made for the perfect photo prop!)

Notice he doesn't have jeans on this time.....hahaha!

That worked out well.....

HA!!

Well, I'm super happy about this picture with my big boy!

Our dinner stop was at Anja's in-law's house and we had a nice time!  The kids played and played with Sammy.  It was great to see them together!!  I asked Anja to snap a quick picture of our family since our earlier attempt didn't go so well.

It sure helps to have a professional behind the camera!

This is the only other picture I took that evening.  I guess I was just enjoying the moment!  The kids had a blast with Sam!

That night we were all feeling like this.......
To be honest, this last year has been hard and stressful but each day I'm learning to pray more for the things I can't understand and be thankful for the blessings we have been given.

Friday morning Rolf had to leave for Dallas for work at 3am (ugh!) so I dropped Tyler off with our friends so he could hitch a ride back to the farm.  Mom sent me this picture soon after he got there!  Tyler caught this 25lb catfish!

Hailey and I attempted some Christmas decorating but ended up just making a giant mess.....

Cute little painter!

Saturday morning we were up before the crack of dawn.  Hailey thought she was so big when I let her eat her snack on the couch "wit Tyler's tway."

Playing outside in her little house while I attempt some more decorations.  It was such a beautiful day!  We had the windows open and music playing.

....and a GIANT Christmas mess in the living room.  HAHAHA!  Toddlers are the best helpers, right?!

Meanwhile, Dad and Tyler were painting his scooter camo.  So cool!

Saturday night I enjoyed some extra cuddles from Hailey.  She is go-go all the time so I'll cherish these slow moments when they come!

Sunday morning Rolf was back home and we worked on the outside.  We had a big helper with us!

...because we live in TX where Christmas season can feel like summer, oftentimes your red ornaments fade to orange and they need repair.  Red spray paint for the win!

We lost our big, beautiful tree in the front yard this year so we are attempting to fill its spot.

We need to add a few more lights and a star but it turned out great!  (Rolf had to do some Aggie engineering seeing as how the stump is still there but it's all good!)

We ended our long weekend at a neighbor's house playing on a bouncy they rented.

These girls crack me up!  They lined their chairs up and were watching the boys run wild.
It was so nice to have a few days off!  Bring on Christmas!
