A Boy's Masterpiece
Tuesday, July 29, 2014
Tyler is at Cat in the Hat camp this week and having a blast. He told me on the way home last night that "they traced our bodies and we made a friend the same size as us!" I thought it sounded like a cute piece of artwork that would probably make it into the "keep" pile since it will be fun to look back and see how big T was this summer.
I pulled the masterpiece out of Tyler's backpack and before I could admire his work he said "Mom! I drew a diaper on him and he pooped all over......that's what that green stuff is. I even ripped a hole in the paper because there was so much poop." Ummm
So, there we have it....a one-eared diaper wearing poop smeared masterpiece. Boys love poop.
Tyler even put the poopy kid to bed in the crib last night....

Boys are so weird. ha!

Creek
Monday, July 28, 2014
We've been spending every weekend of the hot summer at the creek and this past one was no exception! Saturday morning we piddled around the house and Tyler took an early swim. I helped him rig up a "floating pier" for his truck and trailer courtesy of a boogie board, water sprinkler and bungee cords. He thinks it's super cool and I got major boy mom points for this one! hehe.
You're never too old to take a dip in the water table. I cracked up when I saw T sitting in the table.
Late morning we headed to the cut for some fishing. The bite was slow but we had fun being on the boat. I like to fish but don't go as often because the men (and Tyler) usually head out at 6am on Saturdays and I don't go because it's 6am on a SATURDAY! lol.
King Tut in his palace.
I bribe Tyler for pictures by telling him he can take some too (while I hold my breath and hope he doesn't drop my camera!)
Sunday afternoon we rode home with no truck AC, 5 dogs and a temperature reading of 102. IT.WAS.HOT!!!!! We had an ice bag and cool washrag that we rotated from person to person (and dog to dog). T soaked himself and the car seat. I can't say I blame him!
Loose Tooth
Tuesday, July 22, 2014
I was a total slacker this weekend with my picture taking but I wanted to write a quick blog post to mark Tyler's first loose tooth! He's been telling me that his bottom tooth hurts for several weeks but I never paid much attention. Saturday we were swimming in the pool and he showed me that it's loose.....ahhh! I'm not ready for him to loose a tooth yet! We'll see how long it takes for it to actually fall out. This Mom is NOT going to pull it! Blech!

TGIF!!
Last night the long awaited "Ninjan" Turtle backpack came in the mail. (yes, this is different than the one that caused the epic tantrum Monday night...we've had a long, long discussion about that behavior!)
Tyler was so, so happy with his new backpack and wanted to try it out right away.
My boy is getting so big!
5 minutes later T informed me that "we need to go out and fix dat Gator because it's really broken. Where are my gloves?!" Here he is telling me "ohhh yes mom, it's really broken."
After Gator repairs we took our remote controlled tractor and truck down to the bayou. We had so much fun racing those little things!
...we had fun until the tractor got stuck in gear (I was racing it) and it flew down the steep bayou ledge. I was frantically trying to hit reverse and turn the power off on the controller but it was literally stuck in fast gear. Imagine me running as fast as I can after the stupid tractor, Tyler crying his head off, and the tractor plunging into the dirty bayou water (did I mention it's been raining a lot?!). Luckily I was fast enough that it only went a few feet and I was able to go-go gadget my arms and get the crazy thing. Of course it wouldn't turn on after that and Tyler was hysterical. UGH!!! Fun bayou racing FAIL. This is what happens when Mom tries to be cool like dad!!!!! I'm hoping a day of drying out and the thing will turn back on........I feel bad.
Tyler recovered from our tractor plunging incident and we built a ramp for his other AWAY from the bayou. Whew.
First day with his new backpack!
Anja sent me these super cute pictures from our swim day at Oma and Opa's pool last Sunday. Tyler is getting so brave jumping off the diving board!
Kinder Preview
Tuesday, July 15, 2014
Last night I got a little kindergarten preview that I've been dreading......
Tyler still naps pretty consistently at Ms. Andrea's house. He doesn't usually nap on Saturdays but will pass out in the truck on Sundays when we're coming home from the creek or farm.
Today Tyler had Weird Science Camp and didn't get a nap. I picked him up from Ms. A's house and he was FOUL!! I know he was just tired but holy smokes.......it wasn't pretty. After an uproar over me "ordering the wrong Ninjan Turtle backpack" he was escorted to his room where he proceeded to scream for 10 minutes. I was so mad that I furiously cleaned my closet and 15 minutes later I walked in to his room and saw him passed out sitting up. It was only 6pm....
Tyler slept for a solid 12 hours and woke up a whole a new kid this morning. WHEW!! The boy definitely still needs his rest. Kindergarten will be an adjustment!! I told Rolf he might not see Tyler for the first month of kinder because he'll be asleep by 6pm every night. :-/
I don't like nights that start like this!
Summer Nights

It's been pretty steamy here so last night Tyler and I packed up our bike trailer and headed to the pool! Obviously the easier route would have been to just drive but the boy was too fired up about loading down the trailer that I couldn't tell him no. My legs were burnin' by the time I hauled him and everything he packed to the pool!
Boogie board......HA!!
Tyler even packed us an ice chest with "juice boxes for you and me just in case we get thirsty." Sweet boy.
The king.....
The servant..... (lol!)
Ready to swim! Tyler has been doing SO good with his swimming skills, I'm so happy our lessons are paying off!
Misc. Monday
Monday, July 7, 2014
It's been awhile since I've posted pictures of the little boy! He's busy and growing like a weed!
Right before we left for Fowl Cay, Oma and Opa were in Germany for four weeks. They sent Tyler a postcard puzzle and he had so much fun putting it together. I thought this was such a great idea!
While Mom and Dad are away, Tyler gets to play! Backyard cookout and redneck swimming at NaNee and Poppy's.
The next night my parents and Tyler went to a dear friend's wedding. Here he is all dressed up. How precious is this outfit?!!
Mr. Pat and Ms. Judy (aka "the ones with dat opossum as a pet. lol!)
Blake and Sarah
The next day they headed to the farm where Tyler got to ride his much loved "gas 4-wheeler!"
I'm told they played follow the leader for hours! ha!
Back home I snapped a quick picture of Tyler's play area. I love to see his imaginary play mirror what the big men do all the time. The nets cracked me up! "the rug is land and the tile is water" So cute.
This is our view most Sunday nights.....this boy plays HARD at the creek!
A little Wii bowling.
...and golf.
"Mom, make my hair look like a dinosaur!"
I think T looks so cute with his hair all spikey "like a dinosaur." We've been wearing this style quite a bit lately.....even had to buy some cheap gel at Kroger. ha!
Tyler worked hard one Sunday afternoon dragging his pool and the water hose upstairs at the creek. I couldn't say no to his idea after he worked so hard. He was SO happy. It's the little things.
One last thing....
After a busy work day and busy start to our evening, I was getting undressed and redressed to head to my aunt's house when I clearly wasn't paying attention...somehow I ended up with two earrings in the same hole. GEEZ!!
Happy Monday!
