"Cation" Time!
Thursday, June 28, 2012
Our little buddy is SO pumped up for "cation at the riverrrr!" I'd say the feeling is pretty mutual between the 3 of us!
Tyler helped us load the trailer the other night and he was fired up! So, so cute. He kept saying, "Daddy, I can do it...don't hurt your back." lol!
"Woadin' dat gatorrrr" was the highlight!
Super excited!
So long concrete palace (my new name for our fancy house), we won't miss you!

Hot Weekend
Monday, June 25, 2012
My goodness it was HOT yesterday! We were thankful to be at the creek and by the water! Here are a few random pictures from our weekend.
Mr. spiky hair!
Tyler likes to park his gatorrr by the big "whoa-wees"
Tyler got to help wash the boat on Sunday since we pulled it out of the water and he thought that was fun! He told us "Whew, I'm workin' so hard today." ha!
Tyler cracked us up when he loaded his bike in his gator and headed to Rolf's truck for a repair. He's SO serious in this picture!
Trailer rides never get old.
Pool time! It was the only way to stay cool!
Here we are laughing at my dad trying to ride the float....I think he had just fallen off and busted the float at this point. So funny!
Little fishies...
Jet ski ride for Rolf and I...Tyler wanted to stay back and swim. :)
Fun, hot weekend and the best part was that for the first time in two months we didn't have to go home Sunday night and work on our house!!
Fishin' Weekend
Monday, June 18, 2012
We spent most of the weekend on the boat! It was hot but we still had fun. :)
Early morning departure headed to "the spot."
Helping Glen with the anchor...such a big helper. ha!
Double hook, double net, double action! That's how they like to bring 'em to the boat!
Tyler likes to play with the a bait fish or two and he kept telling me that he didn't want "dis fish because it broken." Took me forever to figure out what he was talking about until he pointed to its gill. Ohhh! ha!
Tired boy. This lasted about 3 minutes....
Father's Day we headed out for more fishing but the water was terrible and we only caught 1 hard head. We stayed for about 4 hours and then called it a day but we still had fun. :)
Breakfast of champions on the boat...
"swimmin' on the boat!"
Kirsten, this picture is for you!! We love our "My Mom is blogging this" shirt! Oh how true that is! :)
We ventured home late afternoon to sweep our living room/kitchen after the dust settled from last week's asbestos mess. (you didn't think Rolf would have a Happy Father's Day without a little house work did you?! After all, we pulled carpet on Mother's Day! ha!) Rolf bought some "easy sweep" and it really helped! I mopped the concrete and it looks so much better. There is still a pretty strong musty smell but we're working to get rid of it. It also just confirms that we did the right thing! No wonder the mold spore count was the highest in those rooms...geez!
Little man thought this task was fun!
We had a great weekend after a hard week last week!
Speaking of hard/exhausting/need some luck weeks....
Friday night we were loading up to head to the creek and Tyler caught a ladybug! I was so excited and said, "yay, we could use some luck!" A few minutes later I noticed that he had crushed the ladybug between his two fingers and he said, "I killed it Mommy." Gee, thanks! Pretty sure that reverses the luck! ALL boy!
Asbestos is gone!
Friday, June 15, 2012
It's been one crazy, stressful, exhausting week but the asbestos is gone! This was definitely an unexpected road bump but it feels huge to have it past us now! The concrete looks so much better in these areas than I imagined. Rolf said it was because the flooring was stuck so bad that they had to bring in special machines that buffered the floor making for a very smooth surface. (this is far from the right description of what happened but it's how I understand it...ha!) I was very happy with the work that was completed and pleasantly surprised that it looks pretty dang good. (in comparison to our other rooms that we demoed ourselves...ha!)
Here are a few pictures I snapped on my phone before we brought the weenie farm back to the house...
The entryway didn't have asbestos containing material under the laminate but it did have terrazzo tile that we knew we would be removing at some point so we went ahead and paid to have it removed as well. I'm SO happy we didn't have to do that ourselves. :)
There is quite a difference in slab height between the entryway and the rest of the house which I think is strange but Rolf doesn't so I'll trust him. ;)
Of course Tyler thought the "big dump truck" in the driveway was super cool. (they left it there overnight because the dump was closed by the time they were finished for the day.) He wanted to "drive dat big truck."
Next step...air duct cleaning!
It's Go Time....

Today is asbestos day and we've been working our tails off preparing for the hazmat crew to arrive. We have condensed 3 large rooms into 2 smallish rooms and it's not pretty. I present to you....my "new" living room....
The "old" living room......
The laundry room will serve as the "decontamination area" (whatever that means...eek) so we had to clean it out as well.
The fridge is literally stuck between the counter and pantry. It's a PAIN to get out....
As an added bonus, it's too big to fit through the doorway so we had to remove the doors. Fun times.
Who doesn't want their fridge in the dining room?!
Abby and Foxey got stuck in the dining room during all of this and we couldn't get them out. Ahhh! Here is Abby.
Here's Rolf getting some water in the living room. lol! Water machine in the living room = awesome!
Weenie farm camp out....
Tyler has found a new love for his old super yard...it keeps the dogs out. LOL!
I think we have all reached the point of grumpy, frustrated and exhausted at our house. Here's hoping the asbestos removal goes smoothly. I won't have any pictures from during the process for obvious reasons but I'll snap a few of my new custom floor after it's done. ;) I don't understand the whole process but I do know they will wrap the walls, ceiling, cabinets, etc. with plastic to ensure nothing is exposed to the asbestos. Geez, what a mess! I AM thankful that we thought to test and that we have a good asbestos contractor...trying to find the positives!
