Tyler's 9th Birthday!

On Sunday this big boy turned 9!! NINE!!
He agreed to a birthday picture if he could hold his basketball "because that's what I'm into Mom!" Works for me!

Tyler didn't want a friend party this year *GASP* but this Mama couldn't go without a few decorations to celebrate his special day!

Tyler liked the banners and told me the top one looked like offshore bait..... ha!  After some thought I determined he was right- offshore lures!  Okay then!

He picked out a cookie cake and we found some basketball plates, candles, cups.

Sunday morning was extra special for Tyler when we joined/transferred our membership to a new church and the pastor had the congregation sing to him while we stood at the front!!  It was a very touching and special moment!

After church it was back home to change and get geared up for the rest of our day!  Tyler was excited!

Little miss demanded a picture with the presents but wouldn't smile.  (Truth be told, she refused to move for Tyler's pictures and stood like a statue until I had to hold her down and snap the above pictures.  She was so mad!)

All Tyler wanted to do this year was invite two friends to go do something to celebrate his big day.  We went back and forth on our destination but ultimately decided on Dave & Buster's!

Friends are here!  Nick, Naveen, Tyler

Hailey plugging her ears because the boys were using their homemade poppers.  Heh!

We're here!!

Our first stop was Red Robin where the boys got their own table.  Big stuff!  (I adore that they all sat on the same side of the booth- too cute and still so innocent!)

Turned around watching some intense bowling.....

Happy boys!

On our way to D&B!

Little miss thought she was hot stuff keeping up with those boys!

Tyler's smile couldn't get any bigger!

Seeing Tyler happy makes me so happy!

Let's get this party started!

Their faces when Naveen won the jackpot on the very first game!!

I was pleasantly surprised that all of the games were so up to date and for all ages!  This life sized Rock 'em Sock 'em game was too cool!

Life sized claw machine!  Tyler's dream come true!

The boys had so much fun running from game to game!  Rolf and I took turns watching the boys and chasing little miss (who was having a grand ol' time herself!)

Blurry picture because Tyler was jumping with excitement after winning Deal or No Deal.

Big piano, little girl!

Basketball, of course!

Always finds the claw machine!

Oh my!

This is where the D&B pictures stop because one of our little friends fell ill and it was all downhill from there.  I'll spare you the details but when we got home Tyler was running around the driveway declaring it was his "best birthday party ever" and I looked up from the backseat with a can of Lysol in my hand and told Rolf "really? because I'm thinking this might be my least favorite!!!"  *spray, spray, gag, gag*

Kids are resilient and I absolutely LOVE that Tyler had a blast with his friends, despite the ending! The "party" was exactly what he wanted to do and we are so thankful he has such nice friends!

The friend party might have stopped there but we still had more celebrating to do!  The weather was amazing so we parked ourselves in lawn chairs on the driveway and let Tyler open a few presents.

Skateboard ramps!

Some friends walked over to wish Tyler HBD and hang out.  It was fun!

My goodness Tyler has grown! How tall will he be in next year's picture?!

Tyler's dinner request was to eat at Chipotle with NaNee and Pop.  So, that's what we did!  (well, half of us got Potbelly but we all ate at Chiptole!)

Then it was back to the house for more presents!

Mom and I hung the balloons while we waited on Pop and Tyler.

Annual birthday Nova ride!!!  Look closely at Tyler grinning out the side window.

I love this tradition of theirs!  "We burned out in front of that police station!"

Stinky old car!  Smell your clothes!

We spoiled this kid rotten and I could care less!  Mom and I LOVE birthdays!!

Trying out his new pogo stick

Happy Birthday to YOU!

There's a little bit of growing pains with giving up big birthday parties but there are so many other positives!!  Tyler had such a GREAT day and we did too!  Our last year in the single digits- WOW!
