Weekend: Memorial Day

We spent the long weekend at the creek!  Friday night we made record time and got out of town at 5:45!  Dinner in the car for the win!  Hailey was giving me the stink-face because I took her picture.

Most of our weekend can be summed up with this one picture..... my kids running and me chasing them.  They had a BLAST!

We had a lot of friends down at the creek this weekend so we bounced from house to house (or pool to pool in the kids' case)!

Ridin' the Ranger around the circle to our next stop!

Chauffeur

Wee!

Next stop- big water slide with Junie!

Kennedy and R.T. ready to ride the jetski with Tyler!

Nothing says summer like little girls running through the sprinkler!

Back at our house little miss was perfectly content in her little "pool" watching the boats go by.

Messy curls for days!

Dad was the BBQ King all weekend!

We had a big BBQ feast Saturday night and Hailey was tearing down on the ribs.  She gave me the pucker lips when I tried to get her picture but trust me, sister was chowing down!

HAHA- not sure!

This tricycle has seen many years!

Tyler driving me around the circle telling me all about "high" and "low" beer.  He knows that Doug likes that "high" beer and Pop only likes "low."  (AKA Miller High Life and Miller Lite)  HAHA I was trying not to laugh because he was SO serious!

Oops- caught me taking a picture.

I don't know what happened to Sunday because I don't have any pictures from that day!  We were bouncing from house to house again and ended the day with a big crab boil!

Monday was rainy and my kids were exhausted.  We packed it up around lunchtime and headed home.

Ha!

Out!

I was loving Hailey's Memorial Day outfit from my aunt!

This girl loves cheeseballs.

So does my big boy!  (the container is finally empty so we saved it for Nerf Darts)

Sleepy, tired creek girl ready for bed.

Last Day of 2nd Grade!!

Today is the last day of 2nd grade!!  Tyler has had a great year!

At his request, Tyler asked to "go to Kroger and get my teachers some flowers for the end of the year."  I couldn't pass on that request!!

I took these pictures yesterday morning.

Tyler has grown and matured so much over the last 9 months- I can't believe it!!

Our school did things a little differently this year and had the parties yesterday instead of the last day.  I like that idea!

Here is Tyler with Ms. Kerner.

Ms. Haddox

2nd grade awards were given at a ceremony this past Monday morning.  Tyler received an award for A/B honor roll and perfect attendance!  He excelled at math and science this year and worked hard in reading, which isn't his strong subject.

I don't have any pictures of the awards program because Tyler decided to do "The Dab" when his name was called.  Y'all, I was mortified and as soon as I stood up to take a picture I immediately sat back down.  I can't even pretend to know what "The Dab" is other than a dance move.  We had a serious talk that night about inappropriate timing.  BOYS!!!  (Now I have added "don't Dab at inappropriate times" to my morning list of instructions before he steps out of the car.  sigh....)  It's not the worst thing he could do, by any means, but can't he just stand up and act normal?!!!  HAHAHA!

In addition to the school awards, the teachers gave individual awards in the classroom.  Tyler is most likely to build his own house.  HA!  I'd say that is a perfect fit!

Tyler and one of his best buddies, Naveen.

Look who's on the wall by the library!

The kids could leave after the party so on the way back to work I treated Tyler to a trip to Kroger (woo-wee, ha!) for his much anticipated fidget spinner.  He waited 3 weeks for that gadget!  (Mama made the boy earn it!)
Tyler spent the rest of the afternoon with me at work and said "Thank you so much for letting me leave school today!"

I'm bound and determined to spice up our evenings this summer.  Our summer days don't look a whole lot different than the school year but I'm hoping the relaxed feel of summer will help me shake up our evenings a bit!  I am the first to admit that "the work" of going out of routine keeps me from doing things (it's exhausting!!) but these kids are only young once!!

So, last night (summer-eve?) the kids and I loaded up the bike trailer and set off for the park.  We took the long route and stopped along the way.  I snapped this picture because Tyler was explaining to me how those tractors "don't have enough horsepower to make it back up that hill so they have to use the mower extension on the bayou."  Wow..... okay!  Summer learning here we come (I think I'm the one learning- ha!)

Weee!

At 3:50pm Tyler will officially be on summer break!!
