Christmas 2018: Santa!
Thursday, December 27, 2018
It's been over a month since I posted to this little spot on the internet and that's the longest break I've taken in the 10 years of having the blog. Life has been stressful and when you add the holidays into the mix, there just aren't enough hours in the day.
Enough harping on the stress and mess that has been our lives for the last couple years- let's get this Christmas show on the road! I'm going to go out of order and start with Christmas morning.
Tyler woke me up every 30 minutes from 3:30am on..... We finally agreed to get up at 5:30. zzzzz
Santa came!
The running, screaming and leaping to the floor pretty much made my morning!
Hailey was still happily snoozing so we let Lucy inside to open her present.
Molly too!
Giving Molly a bone is always a strategy disguised as a gift, if I'm being honest. Ha!
...and then we waited and waited. Tyler took Hailey's toys for a spin while we waited for her to wake up.
I don't think my parents were awake but Tyler insisted on Facetiming them to show off his new ipad. We just knew a screaming phone call would wake Hailey up but nope!! We finally opened her door at 7am.
LOVE this picture! They might fight 95% of the time but this picture is too cute for words!
She spotted Tyler's cheeseballs- ha!
"Santa ate all him's pie!"
This picture is what we have deemed "the great blue present meltdown." Hailey picked this wrapping paper out at Dollar Tree for her "friend" from the Angel Tree at church. I had some leftover so I used it to wrap one of Tyler's gifts and Hailey swore this was HER PRESENT! That face!
ROAR store gifts from Tyler are always my favorite!
I totally pulled a fast one on Tyler with these shoes after declaring I would "never pay that much for shoes!" (Mama found an excellent sale the day after declaring that statement- ha!)

A couple years ago I stopped videoing the initial Santa reactions and starting having the kids tell me what they received. I love looking back on these videos and hearing how their sweet voices change over the years.
We finished off the morning by catching up on our Christmas Story books (a week behind!), opening some new toys and getting ready to head to my parent's house. We had a great Christmas morning!

A low-key Thanksgiving
Thursday, November 29, 2018
We had a low-key Thanksgiving this year and, honestly, it was what we needed after the stressful past couple months. Tyler spent the week at the farm with my parents and had an absolute blast. Hailey was sick with croup and mid-week I found myself at the pediatrician for the 2nd week in a row (Tyler the week before with bronchitis). Ahhh!! So, it turns out that it was good that we didn't make any plans for TG this year!
Preschool crafts are such treasures!!
Tyler living it up at the farm.
Hanging with his best pal, Brenson, and her Daddy's deer. These two have so much fun together!
Thanksgiving morning we went to visit Grommy and she was in great spirits.
After our visit we went to HEB and then home to literally do nothing. Well, Rolf worked on Christmas lights outside but I basically laid on the couch feeling bad most of the day.
By evening, I rallied and set the table for our little family dinner. Rolf cooked steaks, I made a couple sides and we ended up having a really nice time. We used my Mimi's china which was special to me since this was a favorite holiday for her.
Rolf was supposed to head to the deer lease but I was just not feeling well so he stayed and during periods of feeling "ok", Hailey and I destroyed the living room with Christmas decor- ha!
Saturday we went to get our tree and then I laid on the couch the rest of the day.
Sunday I basically just convinced myself that I wasn't sick (despite not having a voice! ...but no fever!) and we did church, HEB, prepped meals for the week and ended the day with a super fun party for June's 5th birthday.
Trying to get the kids in the picture- they were not having that snake- ha!!
Monday morning rolled around and I felt the worst I've felt in a very long time so to the doctor I went. Bronchitis, pharyngitis- basically strep, and a good old fashioned cold. I finally made it back to work on Wednesday and we are all hoping to end the streak of antibiotics at our house!!!
