The week before Christmas we had Christmas parties, programs and everything else you can imagine packed into a small amount of time. Fast and furious!
After everyone is in bed I sure do love to see the twinkling lights on the tree and sit in peace.
Tyler had his 4th grade musical and despite saying for weeks that he didn't want to go, he told me afterwards "that was so much fun!" This year they had the boys separated from the girls and it cracks me up to see how into the music the girls get and how NOT into the music the boys get. Ha!
The kids were supposed to wear their pajamas but we settled for our Christmas Buc-ee's shirt instead! These are some of Tyler's best school friends who happened to move around the corner from us this summer- so much fun!
Hailey had her Christmas Pageant the next day where she sang her heart out as a Shepherd.
She participated, smiled and waved the whole time- I loved it!
Immediately after the program she RAN straight for Daddy and wouldn't let go!
We followed her class into their room for a party after the program.
The kids were asked to wear a white shirt for the program but Hailey refused to remove her camo jacket- stinker pants!!
Tyler had his school party on Friday afternoon and we couldn't get out of there fast enough after it was over! Everyone is in need of a break from school!
Saturday Hailey and I went to visit Oma in the hospital and we had to stop for a picture by this breathtakingly beautiful tree in the lobby! It was huge!!
Sunday was pajama day at church and then lunch at Goode & Co. with NaNee and Pop.
Perhaps the most precious site of the day was when we walked out of the elevators on Oma's floor at the hospital and Hailey RAN and said "BABY JESUS, HELLO!" Then she whispered to Mary and Joseph. So, so sweet!
Sunday night we kicked off the Christmas festivities by driving around looking at the most spectacular lights in Houston.
We picked up Pappasitos and set up a Christmas table at Grommy's home. Tyler had fun helping set up and light the candles. Fire is fun!
I hope this is a memory that the kids keep with them forever. It's not easy moving Christmas dinner to be with loved ones but it's always worth it and is an act of kindness that I strive to teach them.
I snapped this picture of Rolf to remember that we received a meal from Pappasitos for 12-14 instead of 3-4 and serving off a coffee table was just comical.
Our lunch was fast, furious and chaotic but that's just our season of life. We are blessed to be able to spend another Christmas with Grommy.
We packed lunch up at the speed of light and RUSHED to church at 2pm where my parents luckily saved us a seat!
We all enjoyed having Grommy at church with us. She was smiling and loving all of the children/people greeting her. I can only imagine the sadness she has experienced not having her daughter with her this Christmas, but I hope we were able to brighten her day just a bit. She is amazing!
I crack up at this next picture because we are all just about "over it" at this point in the day.
Christmas Eve night we invited Opa over for dinner but I have zero pictures of that because my kids acted a fool and it was just not that fun. Tyler took this picture of himself that basically sums up our night- ha!
Before I forced the kids to bed we put out a boston cream pie for Santa.
Hailey refused to participate but that's fine- time for bed!!
Kids are always so sweet when they're sleeping aren't they?! I went to turn Hailey's lamp off and noticed she had taken her candy canes with her to bed.
'Twas the night before Christmas!
(and one of Santa's elves underestimated how long it takes to build toys!)
